Compensation: Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $158,250 - $275,000. DICE Therapeutics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly & Co., is an organization within Lilly Research Labs, a small molecule drug discovery organization with responsibilities spanning from target identification to candidate selection for clinical studies. We are seeking to add an experienced medicinal chemist to join our research team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry and experience in medicinal chemistry and will use these skills to drive innovation in small molecule drug discovery. Responsibilities: Drive medicinal chemistry strategy as chemistry team lead for early program. Coordinate and collaborate with external and internal groups across hit finding, in vitro pharmacology, computational chemistry, and DMPK teams. Coordinate sample shipment and testing by working with compound management teams across multiple sites. Design new compounds using available computational tools and methods to progress program. Manage external chemistry team, including synthetic strategy, optimization and target prioritization. Basic Requirements: PhD in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or related fields. 7+ years of drug discovery experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Additional Skills/Preferences: Chemistry team and program team management experience. Understanding of medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, and PK/PD principles. Experience in hit finding techniques, hit to lead, lead optimization, and candidate selection activities. Capable of working independently and managing time effectively. Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability communicate scientific results to an interdisciplinary team.
