PS WRX exists to create paths for meaningful wealth creation for people in marginalized communities by bringing technical expertise, proven systems, and creativity to products and services in real estate and finance. 

 

PS WRX works with charter school management organizations to develop and manage their portfolios of private real estate facilities serving students K-12. PS WRX is building a team of mission driven and entrepreneurial real estate operations, development, and finance professionals who can provide the leadership necessary to execute these major facilities expansions. PS WRX’s Real Estate Development team will be responsible for ensuring the leasing, acquisition, development, and renovation of high-quality facilities.

 

Position Overview: The Director of Real Estate Development will oversee the project management, administrative, technical, and supervisory work related to the on-time, on-budget delivery of facilities. The role will report to the Sr. Director of Real Estate Development and works closely with the Chief Real Estate Officer, and Director of Real Estate Finance.

 

Primary Responsibilities include the following. Responsibilities may shift over time as PS WRX needs shift during start-up and growth phases.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 
  1. Site Identification, Selection and Acquisition
  • Support in all aspects of site identification, selection, and acquisition including but not limited to attending walk throughs and development summaries reports for evaluation.
 
  1. Site Development
  • Oversee construction, remodeling, and repair projects for individual school sites according to budget, scope, and timeline.
  • Plan, direct, and review the activities and operations of other teams, including but not limited to, facilities, civil, architectural, mechanical, structural planning, and engineering of new construction, renovation, and capital improvements.
  • Ensure all code requirements are met.
  • Assist in the development of comprehensive project budgets.
  • Co-manage school relocation process and school opening.
  • Attain all necessary facility permits (zoning, certificate of occupancy, inspection, permits etc.).
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend contractors, owner representatives, construction managers.
 
  1. Team Strategic Planning and Operations
  • Responsible for executing strategic plan with relation to assigned projects
  • Attend and contribute where necessary to client meetings with operational and school Leadership teams to address needs and planning for schools.
  • Ensure external partnerships with M/WBE construction and real estate development related companies are executed and represented in all development activities. Maintain database of companies. 
 
  1. Operations/Financing
  • Review vendor invoices for accuracy and payment recommendation in collaboration with Facilities and Finance teams.
 
  1. Management – Direct Reports / Cross Team 
  • Directly manage project construction teams and designers. 
  • Collaborate closely with in-house teams (e.g. Community Engagement, Facilities & IT, and Finance)

  1. Minimum educational level:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • MArch, Msc Real Estate Development or related/relevant degree preferred
 
  1. Experience required:
  • 7+ years of related work experience in Real Estate Project Management or Development, Facilities Management or Building Operations.
  • Experience managing architectural, engineering and construction contractors preferred.
  • Experience with school operations systems preferred.
COMPENSATION
This role has a salary range of $130,000 to $150,000. Compensation for this role will depend on experience, demonstrated performance on core competencies, and internal equity alignment.
