The Manager for Afghan Outreach is responsible for promoting St. Louis to the Afghan community outside of St. Louis and managing the Afghan outreach programs. This position involves program development, logistical coordination, financial management, staff supervision, community outreach, and event planning, ensuring successful delivery of Afghan community programs. This position is also responsible for upholding the International Institute's mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
Fluent in Pashto and/or Dari
Essential Responsibilities:
Plan and execute presentations, events, and conferences nationwide to promote St. Louis. This includes handling all logistics, travel arrangements (flights, hotels, rentals), budgeting, and follow-up communications.
Direct the production of the Afghan Journal, overseeing every aspect from content selection to budgeting and distribution, including writing articles and approving all materials.
Collaborate with and provide oversight to the Afghan Resource Coordinator, ensuring all client services are completed from intake to program enrollment.
Engage media to promote Afghan outreach and community events through press, radio, and TV interviews.
Manage financial reporting for all program expenses, including regular updates to the funders and internal accounting.
Supervise the Afghan Community Center and Afghan Chamber of Commerce's part-time administrators, assigning tasks, conducting follow-ups, and overseeing the events calendar for the Afghan Community Center.
Lead grant competitions, from advertising and managing applications to organizing pitch presentations and securing sponsors for events.
Additional Responsibilities:
Lead weekly staff meetings with team members, including the Communications Relations Coordinator and Afghan Outreach staff.
Provide supervision and mentorship to staff, including performance evaluations and regular check-ins.
Foster and manage relationships with external stakeholders and community organizations.
Participate in fundraising and grant applications, including budget modifications to achieve program goals.
Other tasks as required, including participating in departmental and organizational meetings, engaging with community members, and contributing to special projects that align with the organization's mission.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in program management, event planning, and community outreach, especially within multicultural and immigrant communities.
Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and financial management.
Knowledge, Skills, & Ability Requirements:
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Commitment to excellence and a high standard of work.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations, including immigrant and refugee communities.
Financial management and budget reporting experience.
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
Fluent in Pashto and/or Dari
