REQUIREMENTS FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANTS:
The selected medical assistants must meet the following criteria:
Current Medical Assistant Certification
Proficient experience in performing electrocardiograms (EKG) and measuring vital signs
2 years of experience in practicing as a Medical Assistant in a Clinical Setting.
MEDICAL ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES
The Contractor must provide the DSNY Health Care Facility with Medical Assistants Monday
through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or as needed. Medical Assistants may be required to
work on Saturdays holidays and emergency days depending on the Departments needs.
The Medical Assistant must be proficient in performing:
Blood Pressure Reading
Electrocardiogram Testing
Vision Screening/Testing
Audiometric Testing
Pulmonary Function testing
Legible handwriting skills
Assist the Nursing Staff and medical teamwork
Maintain a Safe and effective functioning environment
Use electronic medical record applications
Answer telephones and faxes and greet patients
Health Promotion Communication skills
Update charts file patient medical records code maintain procedures
Aspects of medical care and charting will be under the supervision of the Health Care
Facilitys Registered Nurse
Scheduling appointments
Prepare patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the
examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; helping them to position
themselves for the examination and/or treatment; and arranging examining room
instruments supplies and equipment.

The Contractor shall make its employees available to the Department as witnesses if a party
challenging a medical test commences any litigation. Legible handwriting skills are essential
for future evaluation of the test results by the DSNY Medical Director.
Payrate $23 25 p/h based on experience
