JOB SUMMARY:

The Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Manager assists in the evaluation and preparation of credit requests as well as oversees the daily/monthly requirements to maintain loan compliance. An ideal candidate will have bank credit analysis experience and/or experience underwriting or reviewing commercial real estate loans or investment opportunities. The portfolio manager assists the relationship managers to develop a high quality and profitable real estate loan portfolio.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Have obtained at least a Bachelor's degree, preferably in the areas of accounting, finance, banking, or real estate or equivalent work experience.
  2. 4-6 years of prior experience in banking, real estate-related finance, or real estate
  3. Strong work ethic with willingness to work outside of normal business hour when needed.
  4. The portfolio manager position is required to be on-site.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  1. Maintain minimal exceptions by collecting and reviewing client financial statements Will complete, or assist with completion, of financial covenant compliance and will provide quarterly updates and annual reviews as required for loans.
  2. Monitors maturities and ensures that all credits in the commercial real estate portfolio are renewed or extended in a timely manner.
  3. Provide underwriting for existing credit renewals or modifications. Will complete the full analysis of the credit, working with the relationship manager to determine risk ratings and loan structure. The portfolio manager will be comfortable meeting with current clients to ask questions to assist in the underwriting process.
  4. Will assist the relationship manager with underwriting new loan opportunities. The portfolio manager may be required to complete the underwriting analysis for new credits, depending on the complexity of the opportunity.
  5. Monitors industry trends to identify any new or developing risks to the existing loan portfolio.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Understanding of real estate terminology
  • Ability to quickly and effectively evaluate financial performance for a variety of property types including hotel, multifamily, retail, industrial, and residential development and construction
  • Knowledge of loan documentation requirements
  • Ability to work with clients and third-party providers to maintain minimal exceptions and track loan covenants
  • Good oral and written communication skills
