Description Kirtland Community College is seeking a Collegiate Success Coach to join our Nursing Department in providing guidance and mentorship to Nursing Students in Associate Degree in Nursing programs who will transition to Bachelor Degree in Nursing programs. The Success Coach will play a pivotal role in helping Nursing Students navigate through their academic journey, develop skills essential to success in their programs and careers, and confidently achieve their goals in the Health Science field.
This is a full-time position funded under a three-year grant with two years remaining.
Duties * Develop/revise procedures related to academic success and remediation of students, in collaboration with the Leadership team
* Advises students across the nursing curricula on program outcomes.
* Maintain confidential student files and records documenting all pertinent academic information upholding FERPA regulations.
* Respond to student concerns/problems and refer students to appropriate resources to aid in their success.
* Facilitates ongoing supplemental instruction sessions (review sessions, workshops, study seminars, review for NCLEX-RN) for nursing students. Availability to tutor after normal classroom hours.
* Serves as subject matter expert in nursing practicum process and responsible for information dissemination to advising team.
* Provide a trusting environment where students can share their thoughts, aspirations, concerns, and interests
* Possess a thorough understanding of policies, procedure, requirements, and effectively communicating them to students.
* Ensures processes are in place to track, monitor and record student completion and/or program outcomes.
* Ensures and maintains a respectful and professional working environment using active learning, reflective thinking and confidential debriefing processes.
* Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous quality improvement of the student success program.
* Review and develop action plan based on student and faculty feedback for improvement of program.
* Monitors and analyzes student attrition and retention data and works with other campus leaders to develop initiatives that can be implemented to improve retention and student success.
* Performs other duties as requested
Qualifications Required Qualifications: - Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from an accredited institution.
- Possession of at least one year clinical experience in a health professional setting.
- Clear and Active Registered Nurse License in the State of Michigan.
- Ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care.
Preferred Qualifications: - Master of Science in Nursing Degree from an accredited institution.
- Prior knowledge of academic policies and procedures.
