We are a leading investigation firm providing superior investigative services to employers, insurance carriers, public entities, third-party administrators, and legal counsel. We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly motivated, and skilled Surveillance Investigator to join our team. The Surveillance Investigator will play a key role in gathering and documenting evidence through surveillance activities to support client investigations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and in dynamic environments.
Responsibilities - Conduct Surveillance : Perform covert surveillance on individuals for various types of investigations, including workers' compensation claims, insurance fraud, legal cases, and employee misconduct.
- Report Findings : Accurately document findings, observations, and activities during surveillance, and prepare comprehensive, clear, and concise surveillance reports for clients.
- Video and Photographic Documentation : Capture high-quality video footage, photographs, and other evidence in accordance with company standards and legal guidelines to support case investigations.
- Maintain Surveillance Equipment : Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of surveillance tools, cameras, recording devices, and any other relevant technology used during surveillance operations.
- Follow Legal and Ethical Guidelines : Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws governing surveillance activities, privacy rights, and ethical considerations.
- Client Communication : Maintain professional communication with clients regarding surveillance findings and case progress, ensuring that all information is relayed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Work Independently : Operate independently during surveillance shifts, including working non-standard hours, such as evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
- Team Collaboration : Collaborate with other investigators and team members to ensure smooth operations, share information and insights, and contribute to the success of ongoing investigations.
- Case Preparation & Coordination : Assist in pre-investigation planning and coordinate with other departments, including research and case managers, to support investigative goals.
- Confidentiality : Maintain confidentiality and ensure all sensitive information is handled with the highest level of integrity and discretion.
Requirements - Experience : Minimum of 2 years of experience in surveillance or a related field (private investigation, law enforcement, or insurance investigations preferred).
- Education : High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Private Investigation, or related field is a plus.
Skills :
- Proficient with surveillance equipment and technology, including cameras, GPS tracking, and video editing software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive surveillance reports.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Licensing & Certification : Must possess a valid private investigator license (or the ability to obtain one, depending on state/country requirements). Any additional certifications (such as in surveillance or security) are a plus.
- Physical Requirements : Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, sometimes in varied weather conditions, and drive a vehicle for long hours.
- Availability : Must be willing to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as surveillance activities may require flexibility.
